Get Involved
We want to hear from young people! There are lots of opportunities across Humber and North Yorkshire to get involved by sharing your experiences, and helping to shape services.
Become a Community Connector
Community connectors will be supported to engage with other young people in a number of ways, including:
- Planned engagement activities with other community connectors and Healthwatch staff.
- Talking to and gathering the views of the public and reporting back to Healthwatch.
- Helping to conduct surveys and consultations in the local community.
- Produce written case studies to highlight people’s experiences.
- Promote the ‘Young people’s experience of health’ survey with other young people.
We want to recruit young people aged 16 – 25 years to speak with other young people around their experiences of accessing health and social care, any barriers they may have faced and any solutions they may recommend.
You can find information for your local community connectors in:
Children and Young People's Long Term Conditions Forum
Humber and North Yorkshire NHS are working with Healthwatch teams across Humber and North Yorkshire to launch a Children and Young People's Long Term Conditions Forum. This forum will empower young people living with a chronic long term condition to play a meaningful role in shaping services, making sure that they are meeting the needs of other young people.
It is really important that young people are involved in shaping services that meet their needs now and in the future.
The first of these quarterly events was held at Hull Community and Voluntary Services in 2024.
The day was a resounding success, with opportunities for young people to share what works well and what could be improved and the chance to directly influence the content of the Healthier Together website.
The young people took part in fun and inclusive activities, ate pizza and judged the Hull Community and Voluntary Service staff pumpkin carving competition.
Young person Grace told us ‘It is such a good idea, I have been through a number of services over the last few years and have really struggled to understand and navigate the process. I don’t want other people to face the same struggles so I feel like I can make a difference’
To get involved, call Healthwatch Hull on 01482 595505 or 01482 595560, or you can contact us through their enquiry email: enquiries@healthwatchkingstonuponhull.co.uk
